Moong Sprouts Chaat

A bowl of moong sprouts chaat with chopped onion, tomato, and coriander

Moong sprouts chaat is about as easy as weight-loss snacking gets: no cooking, a big crunchy bowl, and plenty of protein and fiber for very few calories. It is a good answer to the late-afternoon snack urge.

Dress it with lemon and chaat masala right before you eat so it stays crisp rather than watery. If you want it more filling, add boiled chana or, if you eat eggs, a chopped boiled egg.

Why this is weight-loss-friendly

Sprouts are high in protein and fiber and very low in fat, so this is a large, crunchy snack for few calories and no added oil.

Substitutions

  • Add boiled chana or a few pomegranate seeds for variety.
  • Swap in any crunchy vegetable you have, like capsicum or grated carrot.

Variations

  • Add a chopped boiled egg for extra protein if you eat eggs.

Storage & meal prep

Best fresh. The vegetables release water as it sits, so dress it just before eating.

Sprout the moong ahead (soak overnight, then keep covered for a day) so the chaat takes minutes.

Common mistakes

  • Dressing too early: it goes watery. Add lemon and masala just before serving.
  • Skipping the vegetables: they add volume and fiber that make it more filling.

FAQs

Are sprouts good for weight loss?
Yes. Sprouts are high in protein and fiber and low in fat and calories, so they make a filling, low-calorie snack or light meal.
Should I eat sprouts raw or boiled?
Both work. Light steaming makes them easier to digest for some people; raw keeps more crunch. Choose what suits you.
